Papaw Product Information.
Pawpaw and Papaya are two different names for the same fruit. Pawpaw is the name in general use in Australia for the fruit although Phytocare have taken the decision to rename their products as "papaya" in recognition of the name in use for the fruit in the rest of the world.
Pawpaw is a good source of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes.
Ideal for use, amongst other things, as a lip balm, skin moisturiser, a soother of baby skin and sun dried skin, a softener of hard skin, the control of eyebrows and hair styling. The list of uses is almost endless.
So what is the difference??
All of the products have the same main active ingredient (pawpaw/papaya extract containing the enzyme "papain") so in general terms they will perform the same function. Some of the ranges contain additional active ingredients such as Calendula, Honey and Natural vitamin E all known to be of benefit to skin. The remainder of the products tend to constitute the "carrier" - natural oils and waxes, petroloeum jelly ("Vaseline") or flavour/scents. The papaya concentration in each also varies and this and other salient features are detailed in the table below:

Lucas Remedies Papaw Ointment - 25g tube, 75g and 200g pots
Ingredients: The ointment contains 39mg/gm of fresh fermented pawpaw, unguent Carica Papaya L, and 0.1mg/g of potassium sorbate as a preservative. The base of the product is pharmaceutical grade petroleum jelly (a milder form than that found in say, Vaseline) which meets the purity standards of the United Stated FDA and the European Pharmacopeia.

Ingredients: Olus (vegetable) oil, Pharmaceutical Grade Lanolin, Paw Paw ferment**, Cetearyl alcohol, Vegetable Glycerin, Shea Butter**, Beeswax, Olive Oil, Caprylic Triglyceride, Cocoa Butter**, Cetearyl Sorbitan Olivate (olive derived), Tribehenin, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostereate (plant derived), Carrot Oil, Potassium Sorbate (food preservative), Food flavour, Australian Honey.

It is made without any preservatives, chemicals, fragrances or animal derivatives and animals have not been used in any testing processes.
